At last, the boring holidays are over, and I can return to school to start a new year in Secondary 2, with my classmates, some which I hate, and some which are unforgettable. Starting a new year in Victoria School is none like any other school. In the past, every New Year in schooling will mean working with different people entirely, but in Victoria School, the classmates are the same and most of the teachers are unchanged and will remain the same.
My first week at school is mostly boring, but far better than the holidays. School life is difficult to adapt to after two long and dreary months spent mostly on sleeping, eating and playing. Now when school has just started, I have to change my lifestyle to wake up early in the morning to go to school. Attending lessons feel kind of strange and awkward, like a new experience every new morning. I guess I just have to get used to it again.
Though there are no significant changes in my school life, I encountered a few new teachers in school, like the new History teacher Mr Thiru, which I cannot decide whether I like him or not, and my new Higher Mother Tongue teacher Ms Xie, which teaches efficently with the use of English to explain Chinese phrases. I still have to pay attention to the lessons in school as the main reason I am at school to learn as much as I can, and try to excel in all topics this year.
The only thing I did not like about the new school life is that my classroom is on the fourth level, which is harder than I thought as I had to climb 72 steps of the staircase with my oversized school bag.
Like it or not, 2008 will be a good chance for me to show what I am capable of, I will try hard (If not my best) to excel in my studies and maybe make it to IP programme. I will have to make full use of this chance for me to show my true potential and outclass the others (if I can it would be great).
Finally, I will have to set targets and goals for the year 2008. One goal I set for myself is to reach a height of 155 cm and to also get the Edusave Scholarship Award 5th year in a row.
2008 will be a promising year ahead, and I hope I will be able to make full use of this year to achieve more!

You have made a nice goal on trying to reach the height of 155cm.
Just a piece of encouragement, don't be empty when your goal is not reached. A person height is totally natural and will depend in the genes in each individual person. The thing which is more important is who you are inside that body, and what goals you are reaching for, which might differ from another person with different body features and intel.
I am not telling you to stop dreaming. Go on and dream harder. Don't give up on it, because you will get there eventually. Good luck!
Now, you are 1cm nearer towards your goal.
Hi Oscar
It's amusing to note that you set goals for your physical height! Like what Justin has mentioned, your height is determined by your genes and there is no use setting goals for that. Our weight, however, can be gained/shed according to our diet/exercise. I'm setting goals to lose weight!~
You are still in your adolescent years and I'm sure you'll grow taller in no time. Just be patient! :)
Also, I'm happy to read that you've set targets for your grades and it seems to me that you are indeed very determined to achieve them! Never lose focus and all the best!
