Personal Recount Assignment 3 (Recount of events on Thursday, 17 January 2008)

It is already Thursday today, and tomorrow, Friday, is my favourite weekday, as it is the last day of school in the week and I can finally relax a little bit after a tiring and long week at school. Compared to the past few weekdays, today is the most interesting one.

School started off with my favourite subject, Design and Technology and I was looking forward to it since the start of the week. It seemed like I was only one that looked forward to this week's Design and Technology lesson, as many of my classmates either forgot to bring or did not do their project research that is due today (everyone in class were busy filing and doing the research early in the morning before morning assembly).

Today's Design and Technology lesson was a little different from last week's as we had some drawing exercises to do. We were taught perspective drawing and was instructed to try it out by drawing the school canteen. It was harder than it seemed.

Next, it was Mathematics lesson and everyone was feeling excited and could not stop mentioning about the fire drill which was going to take place (my guess of the fire drill happening today was accurate, but the time was at 12.45pm instead of 9.15am).

After three boring lessons of Mathematics, it was finally time for Literature, one of my favourite subjects. Everyone was starting to feel restless and I could not pay well attention as the class was making too much noise by continuous discussion about the fire drill. I think that Mr Daniel Tan must have felt that he could no longer control the class, as he then asked the class to dramatize the poem 'Dulce et Decorum est' by grouping us into four groups, each representing a community of people (The Air Force, The Navy, The Communists and The Nazis), during World War I which the poem is set in. It was a really fun activity but it made the class even more vocal (nosier).

Finally, at 12.45pm, the much anticipated Fire Drill started. Some of my classmates acted like hooligans by screaming and jumping out of their seats and rushed towards the door. Mr Daniel Tan than shouted at them to sit down and listen for instructions. Later, we switched off the lights and fans, locked the doors (Those two unnecessary actions to be taken during a fire drill was mentioned by Mr Chia and we heeded them just for fun) and headed for the school field.

When we were at the field, everyone started playing with the new artificial grass and the black rubbery 'things' underneath (instead of listening out for further announcements) once they sat down. After a while, we started to feel the intense heat and started discussing about Miss Hashimah, but don't ask why. (for some unknown reason, almost everyone hates her (I am the exception))

Everyone was feeling happy (except for me) that we missed about 15 minutes of Literature because of the Fire Drill.

After the Fire Drill ended, we were allowed to go home (another reason why everyone was happy).

Oh, I have completed the third and last post for this assignment! Hurray!
